No. git-format-path and git-am are the natural commands to deal with the first 
hop of patch publishing. Since VLC has only one hop (or zero hops), there is 
no git-pull. The Linux kernel has typically two/three hops depending on the 
subsystem. Then of course, git-pull is used from the maintainer trees into the 
Torvalds tree.

VLC does not have the large scale of the Linux kernel, nor does it have a 
natural and available candidate for the position of benevolant dictator for 
life maintaining the official tree.
