Testing on the Galaxy Nexus - Android 4.1:

Before fix:

Black screen, sound plays perfectly

After fix:

Plays about 2-3 seconds of video smoothly, freezes at that frame, sound 
plays perfectly

So a bit better :) but not by too much :(

Logcat reveals a ton of this:

D/VLC     ( 5079): [0x5c3c40b8]: iomx decoder OmxEmptyBufferDone

over and over and over again, then video freezes at that 2/3 second 
mark. Sound continues.

If you are going to be present at this week-end's VDD, I'm bringing my 
phone with me so we can test this together in person if it helps you 
resolve my problem. :)
