Hrmmm. I seemed to have come up with this with my update to 1.0.6
and forward ported it through 1.1.12/.13 but re-testing this with
2.0.0 without this bit it seems this is not necessary anymore.
Looking back at 1.0 it looks like it was using the C++ compiler to
link these two modules. Not quite sure what was going on but that
was also back when we were using gcc 3.3 still. Anyway sorry for
the noise, drop this.
