I think this is exactly the position where platform specific 
events/messages should be handled if they are not supported by Qt.

On my windows machine VLC behaves exactly as described at #6208. As 
noted there this enhancement concerns 'all' platforms, so I tried a 
solution targetting at least one major platform. I am not too familiar 
with ICCCM...
