So what? configure is not supposed to select the platform. It is supposed to 
detect the characteristic of the preselected target platform/SDK. Only the 
MacOS port hard-codes those settings into configure. The MacOS VLC porters 
never cared to do things cleanly and like the other platforms. The build 
system is only one of several occurences of this faulty methodology.

Seriously, do we have --enable-linux, --enable-windows? No, of course not. 
Even though Windows is far more peculiar than MacOS.

This patch builds upon preexisting crap. It cannot be good.
