Hi Vishal,

The article referred by Bairi is definitely an authentic core reference.
However, it dates to vlc 1.0 which is quite old and many thing have changed.

Also the behaviors and requirements might vary based upon which Linux
distro you are using.

For e.g. in my personal experience, the single command to install all
dependencies required by vlc i.e. sudo apt-get build-dep vlc
did work fine with me on ubuntu but not on Linux mint and i had to manually
install packages. It would probably be different on Fedora / Red Hat as
well.

Moreover, in the current git code of vlc, at least since release 2.x you do
not have to pass any switch to configure like enable or disable. It works
fine with the default configurations on its own.

The vlc wiki for compilation steps and other comprehensive info is
http://wiki.videolan.org/UnixCompile

Also note that this is all for Linux though you can also cross compile vlc
for windows, but that is slightly more complex and error prone procedure.

Lastly, i got a feeling that you might not have basic knowledge of Linux
environment (just from your questions - i could be wrong). If that is the
case, it might be a good idea to google basics of make utility, different
installers in Linux (apt-get, yum, pkg-cfg etc.)

Hope that helps.

Regards,
Fayyaz
