I think Martin should comment, but I think there's no reason to keep 
them. The MMAL plugins in their current shape should outperform the OMX 
plugins on Raspberry already. At least there's nothing in my mind right 
now which would be supported with the OMX plugins but not with the MMAL 
ones.
