Or are you suggesting that there should be no explicit option to
change the equalizer type (through the proposed "equalizer-type"
variable) and instead just use the "equalizer-bands" string to
retrieve the type of equalizer? In this case, the bands would have to
be manually adjusted for different types of equalizers, which makes
the equalizer slightly more difficult to use. With interpolation and
an explicit equalizer type variable, on the other hand, the bands, if
properly specified, automatically adapt to changes in the value of the
equalizer type variable, which makes changing the number of bands
easier.
I am not sure whether any of the two aforementioned suggestions are
valid or whether something else needs to be done, so I have no idea
what to do to address your concerns here. Could you or any other
developer following this discussion please clarify? Also, I am not
exactly sure whether redefining the legacy VLC presets as ISO is the
right thing to do, because the band values were made specifically for
the legacy VLC frequency centers, and without interpolation, they do
not seem to fit well with the ISO frequency centers.
