Question, what if the user has an untagged 3d file, loads it and sees
the 2d version of it?
Is there any place in the GUI that gets highlighted and lets the user know it?

Alternatively is there a way to query if the vout supports 3D
rendering at all (like nvidia or x11/hdmi)? In that case maybe the 3d
version could be shown to the user. What do you think?

Patches 6, 7, 8, 9 LGTM.
