Admittedly this answer is a bit late, but usually you should send the 
patch again with send-email but marking as [PATCH v2] instead of just 
[PATCH]. This allows it to easily spot the actual patch mails.

Further comments about the changes in the patch revision which shall not 
be part of the commit message can be added in between the three dashes 
after the commit msg and the diffstat. Those will be automatically 
dropped when applying the patch with git.
