WTF is this? Can't you think like 30 seconds before pushing hacks?

HTTP interface is not the only user of this API. But apparently your 
time is so valuable that you can't even git-grep? Why did this get 
backported?

This is not something that a committer should do. This is also not 
something that someone with many years in the project should do.

And no thanks for wasting my free time.
