Hi Odin

Thanks for your contributions. There is indeed no dedicated ML for the
python bindings (or any other bindings AFAIK). Posting here is fine.
And gmail somehow botched your patches (wrapped lines), but it was
recoverable.
I have integrated your patches. If you want to do any more
contributions, there is definitely some work to be done in the
packaging, and also extending the test coverage (hint, hint :-)
