Dude, we are in 2015. POSIX.2008 is 7 years old. That's longer than
most OS support cycles (5 years max). So yes, it is retarded not to
implement it by now.

I am not interested in your rants and those of others on the same
topic. Except for me, nobody has even tried to fix the long-standing
issues with error message threading and localizations. Back in the days,
VLC used strerror() and setlocale() which worked pretty much
everywhere... except when they crashed (at least) on Linux or MacOS.
Duh.
