I cannot agree. This is an implementation detail that is not generally 
in control of VLC. So it will never truly work as advertized. This is 
basically the same discussion as removing the overlay option (which no 
longer does what it is supposed to do).

Also this is also something that LibVLC apps are most likely to misuse 
resulting in worse problems than if it was not exposed to begin with.
