Yes, which of course (as stated in the commit message) is the intended
solution. If you have another one in mind that would solve the
problems at hand you are very welcome to propose such.

One could, of course, rewrite/reimplement bigger parts, or simpy split
up the functionality into two separate function (with suitable names);
one for *paths*, and one for *URIs*.

I might attend to this later this week if I got enough time to spare.
