Changing output smoothly is fundamentally not possible. We have already been 
through this with decoder restart. So that seems totally vain. You can just as 
well restart the input.

Changing demux filters is not possible for the same reason that adding or 
removing stream filters, or changing demux is not possible.

My view is that this is a fundamentally broken idea, and forcing it at the 
last minute only makes things worse.
