IMO, this is all backward. The whole plugin is backward, and this seems to 
take it further.

It should just populate the subdirectories. SD has supported more than one 
level of nesting for aeons. Preparsing and preparsing policy is outside the 
scope of SD (except for meta that intrinsically comes with the SD).
