Says me, who fixed the bug / improved the stereo mode.

Breaking the stereo mode variable to introduce a surround-related feature makes no sense without rationale why the old features are no longer relevant. I have not seen any such explanations, and I don't think the community would agree to drop dual-mono support, etc.

There is nothing more to explain here than I already did multiple times and I am more than fed up with people complaining that I don't explain when I do, and even more so when they don't explain themselves and/or refuse to read the existing doc (which you just did...).
