It is not exactly obvious to me, and probably anybody else here, what I2 
means. Maybe Internet 2? Please spell it out.

Timers and asynchronous responses cannot be handled in the input thread. A 
private thread is needed here.
Wire format messages need fixed-size integers.
Mind invalid frees and leaks.
