Sorry, I  struggle to parse this sentence.

The goal of this patch is mainly to fix the following: Pulse audio always accept 5.1 channels even if headphones are plugged.  It can be useful to force pulse audio to stereo and let VLC use its own downmix filter. This becomes even more useful since with the binaural downmixer.
