Not really the subject here, but I just want to mention that
as a core multiplatform developer, I'm glad that there is a C
rc implementation as it is my main interface when testing on
iOS, on which lua is not compiled.

Lua could probably be made to compile for iOS but it would
mostly benefit only developers in this case, for a lot of
trouble doing it since it cannot be shipped in iOS
application.

So even though it's not perfect with regards to the end user
and maintenance, it still has some benefits as being very
simple to cross-compile and enough for bootstrapping an
interface for development.
