Exactly. If neither separate processes nor LibVLC API are viable, then there 
are still have the newer VLC player and VLC playlist APIs precisely for the 
purpose of simplyfing input/pipeline handling.

Since Thomas rewrote the guts of VLM to use the VLC player API, all that's 
left in VLM are the text parser and formatter, and the scheduling thread. 
Conversely, if the use case does not require parsing text, it most certainly 
shouldn't use VLM.
