[vlc-devel] Deprecating the VLM

I think that I have already made my points abundantly clear.

1) VLM broadcast media and vlm-conf are still necessary for stream output 
bridge functionalities.

2) There are already plugin APIs for the GUIs to manage private playlists or 
private players.
  a) They can be used for conversion, recording and streaming free of
   interferences with the main playlist.
  b) There are no needs to change the existing API for this,
  neither in VLM nor in the playlist code.

3) Batch (conversion) functionality would be easier and saner to implement 
directly in the GUIs than within VLM (which does not support it anyway).

4) As far as VLM is concerned, I'm not interested in simplifying the core if 
it comes with increased overall complexity for the core plus the modules.


And I'd add and clarify. IMO, not only the VLM dialog, but also the streaming, 
record and conversion wizards should be migrated to private players (or 
private playlists). It's just silly that the later interfere with the main 
playlist and it's confused many GUI users, judging from Trac and fora.
