I'll advise to join irc on irc.freenode.net, chanel #videolan
first, so as to easily communicate what you're looking for in
the project and be advised where to start.

If you want to provide development effort, you can also try to
tackle issues on trac.videolan.org but it is pretty hard to
determine the difficulty of a task without preliminary
information. Highlighting where you'd like to contribute will
be necessary to guide you through this.
