[vlc-devel] [INTRO] New contributor interested in contributing to VLC

Hello,

My name is Nikhil Reddy, and I am a software engineer currently working at
Netcracker Technology, where I contribute to backend and system-level
development involving C++ and large-scale enterprise systems.

In my role at Netcracker, I work on performance-sensitive components,
debugging complex production issues, and navigating large codebases. This
has strengthened my understanding of system design, clean code practices,
and collaborative development workflows.

I am very interested in contributing to VLC’s C/C++ codebase and am
planning to apply for GSoC. I am currently setting up the build environment
locally and exploring the architecture to better understand the different
modules.

Additionally, I recently created an account on code.videolan.org, but it is
currently pending approval. I would appreciate it if my GitLab account
could be reviewed and approved to enable active contribution.

I would be grateful for guidance on beginner-friendly issues or areas where
contributions are most needed.
