[vlc-devel] [GSoC 2026] Proposal Draft Review: Add back netsync module (Project 4.6)

Hi everyone,

My name is Arshidha, second year undergrad at IIT Madras. I am interested
in contributing for *Project 4.6: Add back netsync module *of GSoc 2026.

Over the past few weeks, I have been studying the new clock architecture (
src/clock/clock.c), the Master/Slave model, and the legacy netsync
implementations to put together a plan for restoring netsync using the RTP
MIDI protocol (RFC 6295).

I would be incredibly grateful for any early feedback on the technical
deliverables, the timeline, or the API extension approach I have proposed. I
would especially appreciate any thoughts from Thomas Guillem, as I
understand he might be a potential mentor for this subject, but feedback
from anyone on the team is highly welcomed!
