- Next message (by thread): [vlc-devel] Hello VLC Development Team, I have encountered an issue with VLC on Windows 11 when using two monitors in “Extend these displays” mode. My setup is the following: * Windows 11 PC * Two monitors * Windows display mode: “Extend these displays” * VLC is opened on the main monitor * I configure the video output to be displayed on the second monitor The problem is that everything works correctly before playback: the VLC interface (menus, controls, playlist, etc.) is visible on the main monitor. However, as soon as I start playing a video, the video correctly appears on the second monitor, but the VLC interface disappears from the main monitor. I can no longer see the VLC window and its controls on the main screen. Interestingly, I have the same type of setup on a Mac mini, and VLC works correctly there: the video is displayed full-screen on the second monitor while the VLC interface remains available on the main monitor. Could you please let me know whether this is a known issue with VLC on Windows 11, and if there is a setting or workaround that would allow the VLC controls to remain visible on the primary monitor while the video is playing on the secondary monitor? Thank you for your help. Best regards, Andrey

Hi,
With VLCKit 4.0.0a24 on iPadOS 27 (iPad Pro M5, also happens in the
simulator), I get a single fully black frame every time Picture-in-Picture
stops and the video goes back to the inline view.
To reproduce: play anything with the default output and PiP enabled through
VLCPictureInPictureDrawable, background the app so PiP starts, then come
back to the app (stopPictureInPicture or the system restore button, same
result).
I screen-recorded it and went through the frames: the PiP window is still
there on one frame, the next frame is completely black over the whole video
area, then the picture comes back. In the simulator it showed up in every
run I did. Playing or paused makes no difference.
A few things I checked:
- my app doesn't flush the display layer, touch the drawable or resize
anything at that point (I removed all of that to be sure)
- a view placed below the display view doesn't show through during that
frame, so the AVSampleBufferDisplayLayer seems to draw black rather than
being empty/transparent
- it lands roughly 50-100 ms after
pictureInPictureControllerDidStopPictureInPicture
I noticed VLCPictureInPictureController doesn't implement
restoreUserInterfaceForPictureInPictureStopWithCompletionHandler, not sure
if that's related.
I can test a patch or send the recordings if useful.
