Hello my dear VLC friends,

I'm writing to you to announce the next Video Dev Days (VDD) conference, to speak about open source in multimedia, will be held in Roma, the Eternal City, Italy, on Oct 16-18, of this year.
This year, it's a bit early than usual, since Demuxed is not really happening, in SF.

The conference is free, and VideoLAN covers the costs of travel and sleeping for active members of our communities.
The usual folks from VideoLAN, VLC, FFmpeg, x264, dav1d, dav2d, Kodi, libplacebo, mpv, libspatialaudio and related projects 
and forks will be here.

This is an unconference style event, with:
- the usual Friday community day
- conferences in the mornings (CfP is open, please submit!)
- unconference the afternoons
- an insane-samples competition (get ready!)
- prizes.

PPS: if you got reimbursed in the past years, and are not banned from VDD, you will get funding to come.
PPPS: Roma is actually reachable by train, from most of Europe. We reimburse planes and trains in the same way.
