Hi,

vlc crashes on my system (BeOS) no matter what DVD I throw at it. I 
just checked with a DVD it was playing previously just fine.

In the terminal I get the following output:

$ vlc dvd:/dev/disk/ide/atapi/0/slave/0/raw
