VideoLAN with Framebuffer??

Hello,

Wanted to know how exactly I can implement VideoLAN with Framebuffer 
only?

Situation:
Class room of 20 students working on stripped down Linux workstations
(primarily learning basics, email, web surfing, all done in CUI mode 
with Mutt and W3M)
No local storage, NFS for remote data storage.
Would like to show Video on their workstations.

Can somebody suggest some solutions?
