vlc 0.2.83 On OSX

Team,

  Can somebody help me building vlc for Mac OS X, I get the following 
error after the :
./configure && make
command in the terminal (is that the right command). or am I missing 
something?

cc: libdvdcss.so.0: No such file or directory
make[3]: *** [../../lib/libdvdcss.so.0.0.3] Error 1
make[2]: *** [libdvdcss] Error 2
make[1]: *** [libdvdcss] Error 2
make: *** [plugins/dvd.a] Error 2

My System Is Mac OSX 10.0.4
Please help, i'm dying to get vlc working, i'm sorry if this is a silly 
question, but I'm new!

I've tried previous builds of vlc ( ie 0.2.0, 0.2.60 etc) and can't get 
any of them to build right.... PLEASE HELP
