Very jittery video - any solutions?

I didn't specify any options except for --enable-arts for kde sound, but it 
seems to crash everytime it's started unless the kde sound server is turned 
off! I don't understand why I get better performance than you. I guess you'll 
just have to hope that it improves in future releases.
