'aloo
Im really liking vlc except for one thing. Sound. I have read the faq
on the website, and tried using "--aout esd", but I still have the same
problem. The sound isnt 'choppy', but more like there is a high-pitched
buzzing that modulates with the sound from the dvd. i.e. the sound on the dvd
is loud, the buzzing gets louder, teh sound on the dvd is quiet, the buzzing is
quiet.	I have tried the dsp and alsa plugins also (even though I dont have
alsa drivers installed).

When I try the dsp module, it doesnt seem to want to work. Using 'warning 1',
I see this message: "(12:09:53-276.309) module: locking module `esd'", even
though I start vlc with 'aout dsp'.

Heres my setup:

kernel 2.4.2-pre1
XFree86-4.0.2
es1371 sound drivers
nvidia tnt2 card with nvidia drivers
amd athlon
128M ram
vlc 0.2.61

I do have an on-the-motherboard soundcard, but it is disabled in the bios.

any ideas?

Thanks,
David
