error message

I just grabbed the drivers from the NVIDIA site. I
then tried to run VLC again and I received this error:
"Xlib: unexpected async reply (sequence 0x2166) !
Multiple segmentation faults occurred; can't display
error dvout error: didn't find a suitable xvideo image
input port."
What can I do now?
