bug reports:
the preferences "cancel" button does not work right. it works exactly
as the "ok" button, i.e. it doesn't reset the preferences back to what
they were before starting it.
the preferences dialog seems to present some options that I'm not sure
are really available.
for sound, it presents me alsa, even though (see last mail) I compiled
without alsa support. it also gives me the choice between 48000 and
44100, though I'm pretty sure my soundcard (c-media built-in) doesn't
support 48000.
interface - the default is "gtk", but when you open the list, it offers
"Gtk+" and "Gnome". mostly a cosmetic thing.
finally, the preferences dialog doesn't save settings. when I restart
vlc, everything is back at default.
sound volume is extremely low. I can't hear a thing unless I tune up
the volume a LOT (from -30 to around -5) on my amp, while other stuff
(e.g. quake3) works fine with my volume settings. alsamixer reports
master, synth and pcm volume at max.
other than that, it runs incredible. still leaves 75% of my CPU idle.
and I positively DO love the "fullscreen on play" function and the
ability to set depths. now I can compile true combat (a q3 mod) levels
in the background while watching movies. :))
