Vlc 0.2.80 a no go on my BeOS box

Hi Folks
I just downloaded the latest Vlc. 
When I load it, it does not display the movie content window, only the GUI
Also, when I drop a file on to the GUI or select a file from the file menu, 
it does not play the clip..
Same result with both mpegs and .vobs

Would I have a file on here somewhere from an old vlc preventing the new 
version from working?
