We would like to help you, but we need more detail about your problems.
Which version (stable or unstable) of the vlc did you download ? What
operating system are you using ? What did you try in order to install
the vlc ? Which error messages did you get ? Theoretically, the
instructions in the INSTALL file should enable you to install the
software. You can also get more documentation on
http://www.videolan.org.

When you have questions about the videolan client, please use the
vlc at videolan.org mailing list, as gnu at gnu.org is far from beeing the
appropriate place for discussions about videolan.
