--input dvd segfaults

Hi,
I just upgraded to 0.2.91 from 0.2.83.
I used to be able to use
vlc --fullscreen --input dvd /dev/hdc
to play a dvd from the command prompt (or a script)
But not if I have --input dvd /dev/hdc in the command line arguments, vlc 
segfaults after it initialises the interface.
If I just type
vlc
and then use the menus to open the dvd it plays fine, why is the command a 
problem?
