choppy dvd performance

Are you running Ximoain gnome?

VLC does not compile gtk or gnome with Ximian gnome libraries. Don't
even think to install older gtk or gnome libraries, because they are
incompatible with Ximian. It is sad but try at the moment.

If so then revert back to RedHat's Gnome, then it will compile.

Greetings,
Jean-Paul Saman.
