Startup options of VLC

Hello all,

this may be a stupid question, but how can i start VLC with a specific set
of preferences set already ?
In particual I want vlc to listen to a specific network stream and hide the
user interface when it starts up.

I do vlc --broadcast 10.1.1.255 --server 10.1.1.x --port xxxx, but it still
comes up with the user interface
and I need to click on 'net' and specify the server before it listens.

How can i make it startup already listening and hiding the user interface ?
