vlc 0.2.90 and suse 7.3 - success

Hi,
how does vlc now work on SuSE 7.3?
Someone else reported problems with kernel 2.4.10, namely that
playback was not anylonger smooth. Since SuSE 7.3 works with kernel 2.4.10,
I wonder whether you experience the same problem, or whether your
DVD palyback is smooth. I ask because I am considering to upgrade to
SuSE 7.3, but I would definitely not like to loose my capability to
watch DVDs on Linux.
