Good news - since upgrading to the latest vlc (and to RedHat 7.2 with new X etc) it appears that I can for the first time watch the 6-DVD BBC production of "I Claudius"! No more interruptions, crashes or hangs. Thought I'd report it. Michael PS "X-men" (region 1) still stops when switching to some new chapters. Michael
