xvideo doesn't scale correctly

Hi,
I've just upgraded to the vlc 0.2.83 and the latest nvidia driver for my TNT
card (which finally has support for xvideo on tv out), but there's some kind
of problem with the display of wide screen movies (I haven't checked tv
sized movies). Although the bounds of the movie is clipped to what appears
to be the correct aspect ratio, the movie is not scaled correctly - it is
taller than it should be (everything looks stretched vertically) and the
bottom of the screen being clipped.
It's happened so far with "10 things I hate about you" and Gladiator (both
region 4).
The problem doesn't occur if I use the X11 module.
Heres what I'm hoping is the relavent output from "10 things" with -vvvvvv
