I had to upgrade the kernel before it would work for me - some known bug
apparently in the kernel RedHat ships in 7.1.

Subject: vlc on Redhat 7.1

Hello,

I tried to install vlc on redhat 7.1 and it doesn't work.
I tried the rpm and to compile the tar.gz.
the answer is

warning: extended instructions unsupported, some optimizations will be
disabled
upgrade to kernel 2.4.x to get rid of this warning
Erreur de segmentation (core dumped)

Is there an rpm for redhat 7.1?

Thanks

Fred
