Got the following when installing vlc rpm.  FAQ said it may be a bug.

warning: extended instructions unsupported, some optimizations will be
disabled.  upgrade to kernel 2.4.x to get rid of this warning
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Running Redhat 7.1 (kernel 2.4.2), Ximian Gnome desktop, AMD K6-2,
256MB, Tyan Trinity MB with VIA chipset, ATI Rage Fury 128 video,
Toshiba ide DVD drive
