Hi,

I have similar audio problems here. Audio quality has no longer been 
perfect for me since the "big audio code rewrite". The "static" gets 
worse at higher --volume settings. That's on

Debian GNU/Linux
AMD K6-II 400
Sound card: Terratec Base 1
Sound driver: Alsa 0.5 (OSS mode)
