Hi, wouldn't it be possible to include support for Dolby Digital 5.1
(maybe even DTS 5.1) into VLC MacOS X over the UA10 USB Abit Home
Theatre adapter?
http://www.abit.com.tw/abitweb/webjsp/english/pt_main_back.jsp?pPRODUCT_TYPE=Audio+Device&pMODEL_NAME=UA-10
This USB device features analog output of 5+1 audio channels, the
Dolby Digital decoding has to be done in software. There is no Mac
USB Driver for the UA10 yet, but I think the biggest problem is that
there is no Mac DVD player software capable of decoding DD 5.1. Since
Apple showed no interest in supporting DD 5.1 in the past, maybe this
would be a chance for VLC...

PS. There was a short review of the UA 10 in German computer magazin
c't 17/2001, page 68.
