Vlc-0.4.4, MacOS X 10.1.5, encrypted DVD

Trying vlc-0.4.4 for MacOS X with an encrypted DVD. While able to switch
and play tittles, attempts to switch and play individual chapters lead to
a freeze-frame/dark display - though the sound switches and plays fine.

Also, when switching to fullscreen mode the video freezes, or goes dark,
while the audio keeps playing fine.

Anyway, is this behaviour about normal with vlc for an encrypted DVD?
