iMac 800mHz G3 and vlc/mpeg2

I'm really hoping someone out there already has an iMac 800mHz G3. :)  I'm
looking at getting the 17" widescreen version.  I've been testing my iBook
600mHz w/640MB RAM, and MPEG2 playback is still VERY choppy.  What I'd like
to know before I go buying this machine is if anyone has experience with the
machine.  I'm intending to max out it's RAM, so memory shouldn't be an
issue, but what about the CPU?  Can it handle the load?
