We made the same measurements some months ago and we tried to measure frame and packet losses when we were streaming mpeg2 clips through a wireless network.
We are interested in helping developing a plug in for vlc in order to have frame and packet statistics so if you could send us some of your code we could contribute in the development process.
I have already developed a real time system for a robot using vlc through my program code.

Subject: [vlc] Hello, is there any plan to implement "measurement module" into vlc?
Hello.
I am using VLC for testing high bandwith network.
When we stream using VLC with RTP, we need to see "packet loss, jitters, packet disorder".
So, I roughly implemented those feature into vlc.
(I've logged RTP header informations, timestamp and sequence number, into a file. Then I parsed the
file to get useful measurement informations, such as packet loss, jitters, packet disorder)
The code quality is so poor, I think that I can get right measurement data, but the code that I developed
is not enough to be a part of VLC. I think that I need more study on the VLC codes.
(Threads, modules, and GUI libraries).
So, if there is nobody who developes the measurement module, I might develop the such measurement module.
Just let me know, if there is any on-going plan for the measurement module.
And If there isn't I hope somebody to work with me.
